Obituary of Joseph J. Ambrosino
Joseph J. Ambrosino, Sr. age 90, of Gloversville, NY passed away peacefully on November 23, 2017 after a short illness. Joe was highly respected in his field, as the Finishing Department head at Gloversville Continental Knitting Mills for many years, and was sought out by other manufacturers even after retirement. Joe was active in local softball and baseball, both playing and coaching in his early years, and as an avid bowler into the 1970's.
Joe was married for 64 years to Ethel Oare Ambrosino, who passed in 2016, and is survived by his son Joseph Ambrosino, Jr, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and grand-daughter Ella as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joe was the son Vincenzo Ambrosino and Jennie Mazzarella, and is predeceased by three brothers, James, Salvatore, and Michael of Gloversville, and three sisters, Mary, Dolly and Carrie of San Francisco, CA.
Known for calling out the phrase, "Here I am you lucky people!", when arriving at a party, we all know we're a little less lucky today.
The family will receive relatives and friends Monday, November 27, 2017 from 8a.m. until 9a.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will follow at 9:15a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 South Main St. Gloversville. Burial will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, NY.
