Obituary of Grace L. Allen

Mrs. Grace L. Allen of St. Johnsville, NY died peacefully on her birthday, December 3, 2017 at the age of 84. Born in Groton, NY she was the daughter of the late Ray and Evelyn Gallow and attended local schools. Grace went on to graduate from Cortland and was employed as an educator for over 20 years. She worked for the St. Johnsville, Canajoharie and Fort Plain school districts in New York; and later the Trenton and Aiken school districts in South Carolina. A woman of great faith, she enjoyed playing the piano, singing in the church choir, bible study and being active in a community of faith. She also enjoyed card games and word puzzles. Above all, she loved being with her family and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband Anderson Allen; her children, Richard Allen (Hedy Stockler) of Clifton Park, NY, John Allen of Brooklyn, NY and Shari Allen of Herkimer, NY; her brother, Ray Gallow of Cortland, NY; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Charles Gallow and Ethel Deller. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 10a.m. at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with Rev. Wayne Cole presiding. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 4 until 7a.m. at the funeral home.
