Obituary of Raymond T. Colinas

Mr. Raymond T. Colinas, 90, of Amsterdam passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at home with his loving family at his side. Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 24, 1927 a son of the late Raymond C. and Anna Colinas. He was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Colinas worked at the former Iroquois Chemical Co. in Amsterdam. He later worked for the Montgomery County Housing Authority in Amsterdam before retiring. He was a member of the former Forest Avenue Methodist Church and the United Methodist Church both in Amsterdam. Raymond was a member of the Amsterdam Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He was devoted to his children and family. He married the former Martha Barss Colinas on September 15, 1950. She passed away in 2011. Mr. Colinas is survived by his son, Martin R. "Marty" Colinas and his wife Darice of Amsterdam. One daughter, Karen A. Gilston of Las Vegas, NV. Three cherished grandchildren, Raymond (Tammy) Gilston, Gail and Jonathan Colinas. Three great-grandchildren, Michael, Chloe and Raymond. Raymond was also predeceased by a son Robert Colinas. Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Hagaman Mills Cemetery, Hagaman, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 243 Mannys Corners Rd. Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
