Obituary of Adele Lennon

Adele Lennon passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, December 12, 2017. She was born Adele Patrick, the fourth of five children, to Mary Karutis Patrick and Joseph Patrick, immigrants from Lithuania, on June 19, 1922 in Amsterdam, New York. Her childhood in Amsterdam was marked by the early death of her father prior to the Depression. A graduate of Wilbur Lynch Senior High School, she worked as a sales clerk at Woolworth's in downtown Amsterdam and later was employed in the Payroll Department at Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mills. She married Thomas Lennon in 1946 at St Mary's Church in Amsterdam. Adele was a loving mother to her four children. Once they were all in school, she returned to work at the Montgomery County Department of Social Services, retiring in 1986. Adele was a longtime parishioner of St Mary's Catholic Church. She was an active member of the American Lithuanian Club Women's Auxiliary and a member of Business and Professional Women. Traveling was something she loved to do, often with her sister, Agnes Pearson Rokit. Together they traveled extensively in the U.S. and all over the world for more than 15 years. In her later years she belonged to the Tribes Hill Iroquois Seniors, especially enjoying their outings. She loved the company of others, especially her family. Get-togethers, like the Friday pizza nights and family picnics in the back yard were favorite activities. Her house was always open and welcoming. Her generosity and her warmth will long be remembered by her family and friends. One of her gifts was to always see the bright side of things. She was an excellent cook and also an avid reader. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas, by her brothers Edward, Vincent and Joseph Patrick, and by her sister Agnes Pearson Rokit. Adele is survived by her children, Patrick Lennon and his wife, Françoise Chabot Lennon of St. Louis; Joan Lennon of Amsterdam, Thomas Lennon and his wife Chalice Filip Lennon of Amsterdam; Robert Lennon and his wife Cynthia Hallam Lennon of Amsterdam; her grandchildren, Michael Lennon and Brittany Lennon; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dear friend Mike Scaringe.
