Obituary of Loretta A. Evans

Loretta "Retty" A. Evans, 84, of Sprakers, NY passed away on December 18, 2017 at St. Johnsville Nursing Center surrounded by her family. She was born on November 3, 1933 in Schenectady, NY and is the daughter of the late D. Gordon "James" Rogers and Cora "Billie" Schriver (Tillmann). Loretta is survived by a son Jesse (Kim) Carouthers of Canajoharie and two grandchildren, Ira and Eric Huntington, whom she adored. She is also survived by stepchildren Janice (Mark) Schmitz of North Carolina, Darlene (Clayton) Cederholm of British Columbia, Duane Evans of Kentucky, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she is also predeceased by a son Frederick "Ricky" Huntington in 1994. She also leaves behind her beloved companion dogs Quincy & Demon who will be taken care of by her NC family. She was very active in politics. She worked at Ellis Hospital as a nurse prior to moving to the country. She enjoyed country living and being a farmer's wife at "Clauretta Acres." She loved traveling in her RV where she enjoyed camping and fishing with her family and the two loves of her life, Claude Slemons who passed away in 2001, and Elmer Evans who passed away in 2011. Per Loretta's wishes, there will be no wake or funeral. There will be a graveside service in the springtime at the family plot in Glen Village Cemetery (to be announced). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Arbor Day Foundation to have a tree planted in her name.
