I can not get used to this. We had some good times and bad but the love never left either of us. Growing up was hard then.
When we did our ways were were distant. I never thought you would be hurt so badly by the people you loved most. I know that for 16 years you were safe~but that has no bearing on our lives. I will remember the good times with you and my kids. They became your surrogate family and that includes the baby.

I am also sorry I promised we would get through this and I did not. I know that
I failed you in ways I never intended but the love is still here with you and me.

Grief, I've learned, is really just love. It's all the love you want to give, but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers in the corners of your eyes,, the lump in your throat, and in the hallow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.
