Obituary of Lynn C. Rudolph

Mr. Lynn C. Rudolph, age 69, of Cape Coral, Florida and Mayfield, NY, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017. He was born September 10, 1948 in Gloversville, the son of Glen "Bob" and Audrey (Carter) Rudolph. He proudly served in the US Army National Guard and was a lifelong supporter of our military troops and veterans. Lynn spent the majority of his career in the restaurant business, beginning with working for his father at Glen's Tavern in Gloversville. He then opened Top Notch Tavern of West Galway, where the Rudolph family served a loyal clientele for 17 years. Later, he managed the restaurant at the Pine Brook Golf Club, and enjoyed his years working part-time at Lanzi's on the Lake and Sport Island Pub. While Lynn officially retired in 2004, he never truly left the restaurant life, whether part-time bartending both in the local area and in Florida, or jumping in to assist the employees as a loyal customer of the Lanzi family. Always by his side was his beloved wife of 46 years, Diane (LaVallee) Rudolph. Married in 1971, they were blessed with two beautiful sons, and Lynn was a devoted husband and father. Lynn's favorite days were spent as a backyard chef and entertainer, or on his boat on the Great Sacandaga Lake or out on the Gulf of Mexico, enjoying the sunshine and the love and laughter of friends and family. He was also proud to have earned his private pilot's license, and he and Diane enjoyed their adventures in the air. An avid New York Yankees and Giants fan, Lynn never missed an opportunity to remind his friends when his teams came out on top. Lynn's charm and humor, along with his kind and gentle spirit, made him a friend to so many. He truly loved to be with people and thrived on the relationships he had with family and friends throughout the years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother Audrey Rudolph, mother-in-Law Helen LaVallee, sisters-in-law Robin Coalter (Robert), Toni Kearney, and JoAnne LaVallee; nieces Claire Kearney and Monique LaVallee Dutcher (William), nephew Etienne LaVallee (Maia), grand-nieces and nephews; several godchildren, including Anna and Lila King; and the cherished friends who became his extended family. He was predeceased by his father and his beloved sons Todd and Darren Rudolph; his godfather Harry Stack, and brother-in-law John LaVallee. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, December 26 at Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church, 22 N. Main St., Mayfield, with the Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating. Private interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Mayfield Servicemens Club, the Diabetes Association, or the American Red Cross.
