Dear Pat and family,
I am saddened to hear of "Skip's" passing! I remember him from the days of The Montgomery County Big Brothers Big Sisters program. He was such a loving, compassionate, calm, cool and collected soul! His happiness just always filled the room! I remember him continually championing behind Pat who was also involved, not only in Big Brother, Big Sisters, but in so many other ventures.
When I think of genuine goodness, I think of "Skip!"
I am deeply sorry for your loss! Sincerely with love, Jilleen Chang

Dear Pat,
Please know that I am thinking of you and praying that the wonderful memories of the past will soon dull the pain of today. I always admired the obvious love and pride that Skip had for you. He often stood back with that wonderful grin of his as you pushed forward into the spotlight that is deservedly yours. You made quite a couple and I feel privileged to know you.

Dear Pat and family,
Wanting to share condolences and at the same time express feelings I have had over these last days. I want say how much I have appreciated the friendship offered to me by Skip over these last four years or so. The focal point was of course at Kim's shop where I was made to feel at home and learned to pay attention during each visit as there was always something to learn. I am not learned in auto mechanics and watching the work being done on those British cars has been an eye opener for me. I stood near Skip on many of the days while he helped with the building of a beautiful MG. His design strategy helped to really dress up the engine compartment and set the stage for mounting much of the under the hood components. Skip explained things to me as he went along. He made me feel less confused about what I was seeing. This was only one example of what I wish to convey. Oh, to remember all the conversations we had over coffee around Kim's table! We recalled many of the folks we both knew in Amsterdam. Thank you both for being so generous at the time in having Dewey come to visit the gatherings at Kim's. We all loved her! I know that all along this road I am traveling I will always be thankful that Skip Beck considered me a friend. You all remain close in my thoughts and prayers.

There were only a handful of times that I was in the presence of Skip, what stands out was his joviality and sense that he was happy where he was. There are no words to ease loss, what is evident is that Skip loved and was loved, for that he will be so missed by those of us here.
- With my deepest regrets, Anna Holland.

I only knew Skip "tangentially" -- he was the guy who ran the dishes through the dishwasher and scrubbed the pans at our NOAA dinners. But you could tell it was his faith in action, even scrubbing those pans. That impressed me -- as did his sense of humor. I hope you can find some consolation in the life he so generously shared with you.

I was so sorry to hear that Skip passed away after an awful illness. This is the worse time of year to lose a loved one as the holidays are supposed to be joyful and bring us a sense of peace. Please recognize that Skip is at peace and he will be looking down at your family at Christmas and in the new year.
Skip was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and one of the best Big Brothers that I grew to know. His mark on this world will be a lasting tribute to human goodness. God Bless your family.

Dearest Pat,
You know how I felt about Skip. He was, quite simply, one of the best men I ever had the pleasure of knowing and loving. Whenever I'd see his smiling face at the club I knew I would have fun that night. Ever since I heard the news I have been thinking about the two of you out on the dance floor and what an amazing couple you made. To see your beautiful face at the children's Christmas party just a little over a week ago and to see you glowing with those little ones even though you were in such pain shows me your strength, courage and, above all, your love for people. Just want you to know that love is returned tenfold by so many. Praying for God's grace now to bless and keep you during this difficult time. Much love to you, Kelly, Matt and those beautiful granddaughters.

Let me begin to say that there are so many memories that Skip has given me and my family to share; however, this is one I'll remember with laughter in my heart! On vacation in Dewey Beach, all our kids were young and bored due to a rain storm keeping them from going outside to enjoy the sights. Well, Skip disappears for a while and Pat goes out to find him floating in a inner tube under the condo where the cars normally are parked with a drink in hand toasting the sight seekers. Thank you Skip for your smile and joy you brought to so many! Love, The Kelly Family

Mrs. Beck, Kelly, Matt,
After college I moved to the Virginia Beach area. Every once in a while when I would call home my dad would say I saw Skip Beck today...he asked about you. It seemed every time someone in my family ran into him he would ask about me. So when I would come home in the summers I would stop by Kim's to say hi. As a child & an adult I have fond memories of how happy he was and how he shared that with everyone he came in contact with. I will never forget the kindness he always showed. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
