Obituary of Barney J Wemple
Barney J Wemple Sr. passed away peacefully at Mountain Valley Hospice on Tuesday January 9, 2018 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Gloversville on January 31, 1941 to Barney and Myrtle Wemple, and a graduate of Fonda High School he married Linda Lee Shippee on November 14, 1964 and remained a loving husband until her passing on April 15, 2016. Barney spent more than 20 years as a truck driver working for Keymark Corporation until his retirement in 2006. A Volunteer Firefighter for the Town of Mohawk for many years, he enjoyed woodworking, and as a self-proclaimed "culinary artist" and foodie he loved to experiment and cook for his friends and family. Barney loved boating and fishing on Mohawk and Schoharie Crossing, and particularly enjoyed the memorable fishing trips he took with his sons.
He leaves behind three sons; Barney (Ashleigh) Wemple Jr. of Fultonville; Jon (Marina) Wemple of Johnstown; and William (Kathleen) of Fonda, one daughter; Jolene (Ryan) King, five sisters and a brother; Bonnie McKeon of Florida; Karen Owens of Palatine; Kathy (Frank) Vainauskas of Charleston; Jan Wemple of Fonda; Pamela Furman of Fultonville; and Debra (Jerald) Krizan of Fultonville. As well as his dear grandchildren; Quinn, Matthew, Christopher, Natalie, Keegan, Chloie, and Ethan.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Friday January 12, 2018 at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home 15 Main St Fultonville, NY 12072 with Pastor Thomas Flanders Jr presiding.
Calling hours will begin at 12pm on Friday January 12, 2018 at Jackson and Betz Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations made be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America at 801 Eighteenth St NW Washington DC, MD 20006-3517.
