I remember I’d tell you to take care of yourself and you’d laugh and tell me not to worry because you’re “invincible.” You’d say, “Wen… I’ll never leave our babies. They’re my world.” But then it happened. You left. It’s 8 months later and I still can’t believe it. There are ashes of you in jewelry around the necks of our little girls... and a lump in my throat as I cry through every song I hear that reminds me of you. I’ve never rocked out with such anger and passion and love and energy as I do now. You’re probably watching me from somewhere and laughing.
The other day, I saw a photo of you with Leah on the day she was born. We were so in love and so in awe of the family we created. Neither of us had any idea what would come. We thought we were “invincible.” Had I known then that exactly 12 years later, to the day, you would leave your earthly body, maybe I would have said more, soaked up more of your energy, spent less time worrying about things that didn’t matter. Or maybe I wouldn’t have changed a thing… because maybe both of us had to learn from loss.
I’m proud of the bond we developed as friends after our bond of marriage ended…. I am proud of how we always put our girls first and figured things out together. I’m happy they had so much time with you… even though I know it will never feel like enough to them.
I promised you they’d never know anything but good. That I’d never speak a bad word to them about you or us. I held to that promise even when things weren’t great… and I ALWAYS will. Thank you for these two amazing girls. They are every incredible part of who you were, D.
I miss you every day. Our best times are some of the most memorable and beautiful parts of my story.

Alyssa and I were just reminiscing about you yesterday and the tears just wouldn't stop. I can't believe the depth and the width of this sadness. I'm grateful, so damn grateful, that we made our amends David Joseph. I was really looking forward to the next chapters though. Watch over our daughter, protect her always. It is very difficult for me to articulate exactly how sorry I am for all of you during this tragic time. It crushed my soul when I received the news. I looked up to DJ and he was a tremendous friend who helped me get through some difficult times in my life. He was one the most caring and dependable friends I ever had.
