Obituary of Antonia Perez-Velez
Amsterdam – Maria Antonia Perez-Velez was born on January 3, 1940 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, to Santa Velez and Luis Perez. Antonia had one sister, Anna Perez, and one brother, Luis Perez.
She married Antonio Machado Juarbe in 1961. Antonia had her home in Cabo Rojo, where she and her husband raised two children.
Antonia worked in an electrical factory as an operator in Puerto Rico. She had a passion for gardening, sewing and cooking for her grandchildren. Antonia loved spending time with her family and looked forward to the summers spent with them in Puerto Rico every year. She had a bright, loving and caring personality, and was always there when someone needed her.
For the last three years, Antonia lived in Amsterdam, New York, with her loving daughter, Linda, who was her caretaker during that time.
Antonia is survived by her daughter, Linda Pizarro (Dr. Glenn Pizarro); her son, William Machado (Ruth Berrios); eleven grandchildren, Kimberly Pizarro, Bianka Pizarro, Gennlie Pizarro, Glen A. Pizarro, Lorenzo Pizarro, Franco Pizarro, Karolina Pizarro, Sophia Pizarro, Sebastian Machado, Diego Machado and Trisha Machado; three great-grandchildren, William Padilla, Kairo Pizarro and Koe Pizarro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 11am at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam. A calling hour to which family and friends are invited to attend will be held an hour prior at the church starting at 10am.
