Obituary of Loren F. Baker
Loren F. Baker Jr. peacefully left this world on December 27, 2022 in his home with his wife and children beside him. Born December 11, 1949 to Loren F. Baker Sr. and Della (Johnson) Baker, both now deceased, in Gloversville, NY.
A man precious to so many, only those close to him realized Loren was nearly blind with poor vision as a youth that progressively faded over his life. It barely hindered him as he possessed a vision most would envy as he was never idle. Loren was always working on something and selflessly helping his family and children as he cared most for the benefit of others. A quiet and caring man who would do anything for his family without concern for himself. He had a special appreciation for nature and enjoyed the outdoors with family and friends often.
A thoughtful soul that never stopped learning, whether designing floor plans, building cabins on Adirondack lakes or dreaming with his children and grandchildren about their lives. He was a practical man that was so deeply artistic he could draw as well as anyone and penned hundreds of poems. He especially treasured his wife of 50 years Judy and his children and grandchildren above all.
He married the love of his life, the girl next door (across the street actually) Judy Lee (Mortimer) Baker on June 30, 1972. He had two children that could not be more proud and grateful, Loren F. Baker III and Katy Sue Unger (Anthony) and three grandchildren he cherished Loren F. Baker IV, Jacob S. Baker and Madeline A. Unger. He is survived by nine siblings, Janet Kuebaugh, Janice Pyristy, Linda Ellis (Ronald), Rosalyn Roten (Harry), Robert Baker (Deir-Tra), Emmeren Baker (Kathy), James Baker, Debora Rubscha (Mark), Brenda Coon (Russell), sister-in-law Kathe Pavlus (Steve), brother-in-law Raymond Mortimer and many nieces, nephews and friends he loved dearly. Today the world is a better place for his work but sadder without his light.
