Mrs. Charlie Mae McRae- Jones

“The world however beautiful was never meant to be the place we call our home for all eternity.”

On Saturday, July 3, 2021 God our father, the creator of all mankind looked down on Charlie Mae Jones and said, “you have fought a good fight and served me well and now it’s time to rest.”

Charlie Mae was the sixth child born to the late Charlie and Merdice McRae in Saint Augustine, Florida. She was raised in a Christian home and at an early age she gave the late Rev. S. H. Hunter her hand and God her heart and became a member of St. Paul A. M. E. Church in St. Augustine, Florida. After moving to Gloversville, she joined People A. M. E. Zion Church and served faithfully until her health failed.

On January 15, 1949, she married the love of her life, Edward Jones, who preceded her in death and to this union six loving children were born.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Archie McRae; two sisters, Willie Lee Thomas and Ella Louise Hines; one daughter, Blanche Jones; two nephews Anthony and Bryan McRae; one niece Colontha Hampton and one granddaughter, Shauna Beekman.

Charlie Mae was a fun-loving person that never met a stranger. Charlie Mae was a hard worker, at various jobs. She started at Coleco in Gloversville, then went on to Deca Records which became MCA Records which she retired from in 1992. After retiring her greatest joy was spending time caring for and spending time with her loving grandchildren.

Charlie Mae was a Chartered Member f the Fannie Rose Temple #1198 of Gloversville for 55 years. She also enjoyed being bowling on the In Crowd league and watching basketball at the Elk Street Park and at the Gloversville High School. Whether or not her grand kids were playing or not, she did not miss to many games at GHS or the away games. She would travel to the away games with her partners Audrey Bowman and Calvin Beekman.

She leaves to mourn in her passing six devoted children that walked, served, and did everything they could for her. Her first child, she did not give birth to, but was accepted as her own. They were the light of her life along with her grandchildren.  Children: Darlene (Charles) Vogt, Edward Jones, Jeffery Jones, Merdice Moorer, Rosaland (William) Rowback all of Gloversville, New York, and William (Sharon) Jones of Thomaston, Georgia; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two devoted sisters, Dicie Sanks of St. Augustine, FL., and Rosa Lee McRae – Daniel of Thomaston, GA; eight nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends that will miss her dearly. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Curtis Mills and Jeanne Dantini, NP for there in home care over the years. A special thank you to her VNA Home Care aides Nickishia Robinson, Kelly Tooley and Priscila Richards, for they gave mom assurance of her safety, comfort and keeping her healthy in her home which was her wishes.
